Cannot get the cpu fans working on this mb, tested fans on abit card no problem. Super Orb, 1,2Gh AMd processor and a 300w power. Any help
much appreciated, I have messured that I get current from these connectors.
Welcome to the forum!
It sounds like u have got a bad board. I have actually tried something similar on my A7V, but that wasn't just the CPU fan, all of my fans stopped working. I RMA'ed the MB and got a new one.
If u have tested the fan on another MB, I really think it's a bad connection or something like that.
Don't u have a warranty? Send the thing back.
I don't know about the "Super Orb" but some of the other popular hsf's with larger fans recommend against connecting the hsf to the headers on the motherboard because of the current draw. I know that the Global Win XXX38's ship with an adapter to a molex connector from the psu. If the "Super Orb" draws too much current, and you've had it up and running connected that way you may have burned out the fan header on the motherboard. Try using an adapter and see if that works. Of course you will no longer be able to monitor the rpm of that fan with a monitoring program without some rewiring of the fan leads.
I would ditch the super orb and go with a HSF recommended for a 1.4 G Athlon.
If you cannot RMA the board (or you just want to power the fans from the PS) here is one place which sells the 3 to 4 pin adapters http://www.directron.com/3to4adapter.html
