im currently running a tbird 1.4ghz with a fop38 and stock fan
i was wondering if a 60mm to 80mm fan adapter and standard case fan would cool better or at least the same as what i have now.
Im looking to lower temps (57 degrees with 46 case)
and lessen the noise
its so loud!

any ideas would be appreciated

Try getting an Alpha 8045. That will lower your temps noticably. You may also want to try adding some more ventilation to your case. You should be able to drop those temps 5-10 degrees anyways, and get a corresponding drop in CPU temp.

Not so much the fan, but the HS. The fop doesn't(IMO) do a great job on hot TBirds. You might be better off looking for a new HSF setup.

I have a Volcano 7 and only now have really good temps after much tweaking and help from the good folks here!
My temp is currently at 36c aprox...and I have to guess here as Ausus boards are reported to read temps too high...So if i knock off 10c off of 46 I get 36c..which is pretty darn good for a Volcano 7!!! I had to mod the wires to get the fan spinning at full RPM's....let me know if you want more info and I can give more detail in another reply and point out a thread or two.
