Hi,

I use a Celeron 566@850 on an abit bf6 board. now i wanna go faster, what is the fastest cpu i can use on my abit bf6?

Hi & Welcome to the forums

Using a good slotket :

1)P-III 1000E FCPGA 100MHZ FSB

2)P-III 1000EB FCPGA 133MHZ FSB

**) Cause it's BX chipset...try to find the 1000E
it can be overclocked @1333 and you wont have
pci & agp speeds far out of specs

hmm.... what about the PIII 1100/100FSB? ist the one I found more often in shops than the others. The PIII 1000/100 I did not find yet... I want to use a fsb 100 cpu cause half the memory modules use have fsb 100. Its from my old pc but its a lot...

If you want to run at 100 MHz FSB, your best route(althought not the easiest) would be get a Celeron 1.3 or 1.4 and then do the necessary modification to get it running on a BX board. The mod involves acquiring a compatible slocket and then making some non-permanent modifications to the CPU and slocket.

These newer Celerons are pretty much the same as coppermine PIII's (they do have 256K of L2 cache) except Intel has neutered them by making them run at 100 MHz FSB.

The idea using a celeron 1.4 or 1.4 sounds good, I wanted to do this before I discovered that the fpcga2 cpus dont fit into my bx board. what kind of modification swill i have to do to make it run on my board? do you know a special sloket which is the best for this?

thanks for all answers till now :)

The MSI 6905 Master ver 2.3 is probably the best. I have personally done it with that slocket. I have heard that the ver 2.0 of the same slocket works as well. I have also heard that Asus S370-DL and S370-133 work as well.

Here are some excellent references that discuss and explain the mod. Good luck.
