Well as much as it is a hassle and more money spent..(Shhh, don't tell the G/F!) it was easier to fix than a bad MOBO. I was sweatin' when I put in the new chip...but I must say that the Volcano 2 is a breeze to install compared to the Tt mini super orb.
I am thinking about glueing the chip to my case so that it will remind me not to fiddle so much.
I am glad it was just a affordable Duron and not my 1.4 !

Orbs are useless, unless you count what bender did... turning one into a waterblock. (check the cooling classifieds.) By the way... I have a T-bird that looks like that, and for the most part, it still works.

One more reason to NEVER use ANY orb for CPU cooling. They are only good for the chipsets.

I had the same cooler as u, it made so much noise, that finally, I took out the mobo, very luckily, I removed it w/o cracking my (then very precious) 1.2 T-Bird, and installing a stock cooler, the stock cooled about the same as the Super (crappy) Orb and was so much quieter. I very quickly called the store where I bought the comp and asked if they would replace the orb for the stock coolers cause the 1 I had I leant from some1 I know... They replaced my Orb for 2 HSFs... Now I have both the comps running w/ much less noise than they would be w/ the Orb
Cut a long story short (LOL only now) Go get a new cooler, would worth ur money. The best one u can get right now is the ThermalRight AX-7, it comes w/ the 80mm Delta, I think, but u can put a 80mm quiet fan, u will notice much difference

I have a new cooler...2 in fact...check my sig...the orb is a dust collector now and in fact i am wondering if there is anything I can do w/ it....It may come in handy in case of an emergency, but I would have to be pretty desperate to use that NON-super Orb again....
