What is crypt32, what does it do, and what programs rely on it?

I found it in my event viewer of Windows XP auot downloading stuff. Here is a cut and paste:
Crypt32 is listed as the source

Successful auto update retrieval of third-party root list sequence number from: <http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootseq.txt>

This is the only thing I found on it thru google and I had to use the google cache because it is a dead link.

Any info or links would be apreciated:D

XP is just getting root certificate information from Verisign, et al. If you want to turn this feature off, then go to Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows components | Scroll to the bottom and uncheck 'Update Root Certificates'. The downside to this is that you will no longer get the most up to date security information concerning what websites are secure and which are not. ;)
