CS refresh rate problem

I just installed the 27.50 drivers for my G3Ti/550 and now I cannot get the refresh rate back up to 85 hz in CS. My desktop is at 85HZ. Vsync is turned off. I tried the "r_displayrefresh 85" command, but it didn't work this time. Any cures? I'm using Win98SE

I got it. I thought I had worked through all the desktop resolution settings. I forgot to go through them in 16 bit. Apparently, CS runs in 16 bit color. My desktop is normally at 32 bit. All better

how do u check ur refresh rate?

I didn't really "check" it in game. It was obviously around 60Hz or so because of the annoying fluttering.
You can check your desktop refresh rate--Right click desktop/Properties/Settings/Advanced/Adapter. You should be able to see it there.
