has anyone sucessfully flash their bios to revision 1006. If so can you list the step by step instructions as I don't want a dead mootherboard.

Cusl2 has a site that gives directions on it. www.cusl2c.com Are you having any problems with your rig? I have the 1003 BIOS and it is working great. If you are having no problems, I would suggest not flashing. I tried to flash my Tyan Trinity 400 and got caught in the middle of a rolling blackout. Now I have a pretty paperweight.

Hey man i had the same problem, couldn't flash bios. I still don't know why it doesn't update. Also my cousin has the same board and couldn't get it to, if you find out anything could you Email me or something.

Are you talking about the Tyan? With that I am going to let it set for a bit. I want to get my ABIT mobo up and going first. Then I have to get another case and all the innards plus a moniter and stuff. I don't know if mama will justify having 4 rigs when there are only 3 of us in the house... Heck, she laugs at me when something goes wrong and blames it on the OC. Untill I tell her I wasn't OCing when the problem hit....

I sucessfully flashed my bios to 1006a. here is the thread.http://cusl2c.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=1084. but be very afraid if you are going to do it because if something goes wrong you just brought yourself a bookend.

What kind of responses are these. One guy said "be very afraid if you are going to do it". Cmon....you guys ever seen computers before? Responses like that do nothing positive for the original poster.

Yes, I successfully posted to the 1006 BIOS. I've heard you should set BIOS to default before you flash....I never have on any board. NEVER flash on an overclocked machine however. I really don't like the ASUS update option. You should download the flash utility and the BIOS file from ASUS. Next, boot to a pure DOS prompt. As I recall, you can even boot from the WIN98 CD...no CD support needed. Insert the floppy disk with the flash utility and *bin (I believe) file on it. run the flash utility. I always backup the previous BIOS....giving it a name I could remember....something like CUSL1003.bin....or *.awd....whichever the 1006 version file extension is. Then....flash your BIOS per the simple steps in the program.

Now, I have flashed this machine (CUSL2 w/ PIII700E @ 1.05ghz) overclocked....only because this chip is stable at less than default voltage...and I did not fear a system lock as I have not had one ever (knock on wood).

If you need further instructions....email me @ [email protected]

It's really an easy process....just one of those things you dont' rush. Once you've done it once....it's duck soup.
