I just got my brand new Lian Li PC-70 and these are sweet. I never thought any case could be so perfect.

Although this case is great and it is a sin to mod these things, I want to put a window in it, and also I need to drill a 128mm hole for my radiator fan.
The problem is that this aluminum is really thin and light weight. Have any of you cut these cases up at all. Im just afraid that the aluminum is going to crack once I get down and dirty with it.

Just wondering if any of you have experience with these things and if you have any tips. This isn't my first mod, so I know what I'm doing, I just want to be extra careful with my $180 case.

I'll be using a 9.6v cordless drill, and a sabre saw.

thanks

I don't know where cack01 bought his, but I did a quick search on pricewatch.com & found a pc-70 for $184 at www.mpcparts.com

It might crack with a sabre saw because theyt are so big and powerful. Maybe if you can control the speed and use a finer tooth blade. Also a 9.6V drill can not handle a hole saw. Not even a 12V can handle it. I had to use a 18V for cordless.

get a dremil the best 150$ youll ever spend!!!!

?!?!? My corded Dremel cost around $100 around 3 years ago and it came with a lot of bits. If you do get a Dremel get a corded one because the battery drains every 30min and you have to recharge them for 3? hours.

if you use a Dremel, use the cut off wheel to cut out the appox. shape, then finish off the edges with the mutli-purpose cutting bit.
i did my PC-65 with this, and it wasn't hard at all
:D

Hey guys thanks for the input, nozdoz is right about the price, I was just rounding down. I went out and got a hole saw, although I doubt it will work, but on the package it said I will only need about 75-150 rpm to cut thin mettal. Seems alittle slow though for metal oh well we shall see.

I don't have any money for the dremel right now, b/c about 5 minutes ago I just had to put a stop on my card some idiot felt like buying $500 bucks at best buy, $600 some perfume place and $400 at some sound place online. If he didn't get a geforce 4 at best buy or a JL Audio 15W7 I will be ****ed. Goes to show that online security isn't always perfect. I blame myself though for being careless.

I'm very partial to silver with metallic blue stripes. That's how I'm going to do mine.

All of my mod work is done with a dremel. My grandfather gave my father two and lots of bits...they've served my Antec well, but it's time to move on up in life.

The dremel is a good bet for lots of mods, but you need a lot of patience and a fairly steady hand. I think I saw an article on the main site about dremeling mods. I always use masking tape, but there's got to be something better out there.

Don't Lian Li do a windowed side panel for the pc-70? I Know they do one for the pc-60 it costs like £30 here. U can even buy the pc-65 which is the same case as the pc-60, but with the windowed side panel included.

I dont really like the black strips around the window. On a silver case, I thnk that thye look really unattractive. Id rather go with the clean look of the window on the PC-65.
