Ok, my subject title is a bit misleading, i know that DDR voltage is how much voltage you give to the DDR ram, just like the CPU, but this option is quite new to me. I have never seen this before on SDRAM boards.
Now, anyways I got this epox 8k7a mobo, and I had my system running at normal speed not overclocked, a tbird 1.33ghz at 1.84 Vcore. The system would randomly crash during working times, mostly games. I tried upping the Vcore to 1.95, and it still crashed and my temperature would raise up to 57C!!! during gameplay, so it wasnt very good idea to go any higher.
SO i checked the mobo manual and noticed this jumper for DDR voltage, I decided to up it by +0.1V and BOOM no more crashes!!
Now I was wondering as for overclocking! my system would become unstable at 140 FSB before I changed the DDR voltage, so I was wondering that I could up the DDR voltage, but Im not fully informed, here is what I need to know
Question #1 - What positive effects, problem fix, that the DDR voltage raising does?
Question #2 - If DDR voltage raising works like CPU core voltage, then what are the dangers of going too high? what is considered as too high voltage for DDR ram that isnt cooled by a fan?
