I tried something new today: running my system at the recommended frequency. No OC-ing. The T-Bird requires a 1.7V VCore. When I leave the VCore setting to "default" on the bios, the Vcore is 1.825V The CPU temp is 51degC. Too high perhaps?

yep

Temp is a bit high.
depending on your chip code
Example
A0850APT3B...850MHz...P=1.7 Volts..
S=1.5 volts
U=1.6 volts
P=1.7 volts
M=1.75 volts
N=1.8 volts

Thanks a million trancebear!

What I was saying is, should I throw out the HSF now. I am still using the Taisol HSF that came together with the CPU chip. What would be the difference? When I ran the CPU at 100MhzX10 (1000Mhz), the CPU temp was 65degC.

It really does depend on what you are emasuring your temperature with. I use a thermal probe and The highest temps I actually have had with any cooler I've used at any voltage is still less than 50°C.

I suspect that you may have a not substantial method of checking your temperature or perhaps a bad thermal interface between cooler and cpu die.

If I lower the VCore, will the temp stay the same? Will it affect the CPU running normally?
