I can't afford a new board right now k?
The mobo is a cast-off from someone who upgraded to AMD.
That said. I would like to know if I can flash a dell bios with that of another manufacturer? I know the chipset is 815 from the dimension 4100 series. I was wandering if intel themselves do a bios that would be appropriate.
Your thaughs.

It's not entirely impossible, but most of the time, even though it may be an Intel motherboard, OEM boards are not manufactured by the same companies that mass produce the actual Intel boards. They most of the time have some different components such as the type of integrated video or audio, etc. It can look the same and work the same but that doesn't necessarily make it the same board.

You woul have to do alot of research on it to find out for sure.

If it's a freebie and you don't care to wreck it, then look around...see if you find something that might work and go for it.

If that don't work, see if you can find the manufacturer of the board (may be painted on board near PCI slots or go to dell site and newsgroups and ask around) then order a new bios from the manufacturer. From what i've read in the forums here, the new chip should be pretty cheap. When I found myself in the same situation (Hewlett Packard modified Asus p2b) I decided to just buy a new mobo. As soon as my Tax refund come that is!! I've got a celeron 600 sitting idle until then[:(]
