mm, I don't know, mouse/keyboard just seems more natural for me personally, but I know that I can hover close enough to water to actually pick people up, I just jump out to 3rd person view, and lower myself to where the struts are just inches from the water and someone swimming can jump in the chopper, and I can take back off, I've rescued many people like that before. Just gotta watch out for those pesky jet pilots swooping in and taking you out.

*edit* I guess I just don't like having to switch back and forth from mouse/keyboard to joystick whenever I grab a Helo, or Jet. I prefer to be able to run up, jump in, and take off right away.

Thats exactly how I got so good, lots of practice offline with my Saitek X45 flight stick. I can hover, capture flags while hovering, it's great. It took me a long time to get good but now I can fly within 3 feet of the ground at full speed and follow the hills so i'm harder to detect, sooo fun.

oooo Sony can you mail me the config file you are using? coz as silly as it may seem i cant seem to control anything in BF or DC with my X36

i thought you could float them for awhile since i was playing lost village once and saw someone land about 10 feet from the shore on town side and the chopper skimmed onto land but every time i try it no matter what entry angle or direction i just start sinking, or blow it up immediatly.

The X36 is older and uses the Game Port instead of USB like the X45 my config file wont work.

gentle touch, slow hand, and a good sense of your surroundings, I personally can do barrel-rolls in the black hawk at a fairly low altitude, and I love doing it, because almost every time, I wait till the chopper is full of people, and I'm in the middle of nowhere. You can imagine their surprise, when they bail out cause they think i'm gonna crash, when I pull off the roll and fly away with an empty chopper, rofl.

of course I always come back and pick them back up :D

*edit* oh, and I use mouse/keyboard. I tried joystick, but I can be more accurate in my flying with M/K.

LOL, damn, I would pay to see that. :D

Seriously, it just takes spending some time offline practicing. I finally just sat down about 3 weeks ago and just started practicing. Im still not great, but I am getting better. ;)

When I started back in .28 beta all the helicopters were so hard to manuver(sp?) now the Apache seems so nimble in the latest version. So much easier.

Hey RDD haven't seen you in a while how's the RAF going? Yea the X45 doesn't have Twist or FFB but it does have the rudder on the throttle control which I love. I like it better than twist because I always find myself twisting the joystick biaccedent and making myself go out of control.

OK , since we have a bunch of DC fans here (including myself ) , I have a question about my flight sticks in the game .....

I can fly choppers with my keYboard and MX700 with NO PROBLEMS and Iam pretty darn good at it . However , I would like a tad more precise flying for matches , etc .
My problem is , NONE of my sticks are recognized by the game !!!

Ive tried my old MS Sidewinder Pro ( but I no longer have ) , my newer Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D , and last and most important my new Saitek EVO .
None of these sticks are ever recognized in the game (controller option for flight) . Ive tried just about EVERYTHING . All the controllers are fine in WinXP and play fine with other games , just not in BF1942 DC .
Ive tried with the stock XP drivers , the driver software for each stick , and even uninstalled the game (all but mods) and reinstalled with NO luck . Also no two controllers are installed at the same time to avoid a conflict of any sort .
Anyone have any helping ideas ? Iam realing dying to use my new Saitek EVO in the game .

TIA for any suggestions ... ;) :D

I learned on the Blackhawk wiht the rocket pods in El Almein first, it being a little slower and heavier afford a litle more time to work on adjusting, then i switched to the apache, i am still working on hovering, and as farr as landing goes i just land like a regular plane. I use just the keyboard for the most part, but the joystick works to.

The apache can get a bit touchy at times but try to learn how to land while hovering it helps a lot especially when trying to land at the north outpost in El Alamein. Also if you get good enough you can land on the back of the battleships where there is a small open space. I did it today you got to be really careful because of the overhead wires.
