I'm rebuilding my desktop, so it is time to resurrect this thread. The 5820k has been doing me well, but I'm starting to hit the limits of what I can do.
EarthDog sold me his Intel 10980XE and Asus ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega, which arrived yesterday. I have more parts arriving soon, and the plan is to do water cooling, since this processor runs hot. Last water cooled system I ran was a Core2Duo.

I have been wanting a Full-ATX case for a long time. I have the money for it, But I keep turning the wrong way when it comes to trying to get one.
And WHOOOoo that build is gonna look amazing!!!
You couldn't get any ram with higher speeds? I been there. sucks when they are not in stock.

Water cooling parts have started arriving. Waiting on one more delivery before I can start building this system. For parts, I went to EK and said "yes, one of everything please". Decided to buy coolant since there are some compatibility issues with biocides and silver coils. Don't want to risk it.
I realized I'm missing a part to complete the loop, so I'll order it today, too.

Rest of the parts arrived. Only missing one piece to complete the loop.
Started piecing the system together and did an initial routing of the loop. I don't like the part going into the reservoir, but it doesn't seem like tubing will collapse, so it should be ok.

Got the part I was missing to complete the loop yesterday, assembled the loop, filled it, and bled the air out.
Next was to tackle the horrendous stock wiring on the pump from EKWB. Do they seriously think this looks good?
I don't have the fancy black-out sleeving, but this looks way better and is easier to manage.
Got everything together. Leak testing and bleeding the air out. No leaks at all.
Pretty.
Currently stress testing the system. Currently running 4.2 GHz @ 1.05v with an AVX-512 stress test. Temps are 63-69c.

I didn't know I needed the part until I started putting it together. When I add a GPU to the loop, I'll consider putting a fitting on it.On top of the res.. you can put a EK - 90 deg end - to allow proper running of your tubing

Yeah, I'd likely do a 45° fitting. Video should be fixed.

The card from the What did you get today? thread was mine. Blaylock's queue came up for a EVGA 3080 Ti, but he didn't want it, so I bought it off him. This is the most expensive card I've purchased. It arrived a few weeks ago, but I've been very busy. Yesterday, I installed a water block.
The card was so thick, I had to install it in the bottom slot so it had room for the fans to work properly.
Everything running on air.
The EK blocks were out of stock everywhere, but came in stock at PPCS Monday, so I snagged one. EK listed this block as a "visual" compatibility, which means they didn't actually test one, but it looked to be the same, so it should work.
Immediately after separating the heatsink from the PCB. It was making such good contact that I thought I missed a screw.
Installed the thermal pads, but didn't remove the film on the water block side, so I could do a test fit and see how the TIM spread. EK recommended doing an X pattern, and it worked surprisingly well.
Thermal pads film removed and re-applied the TIM. This pattern looks weird to me, but it works really well.
Water block attached to the card with the compression fittings installed.
Next up was fixing the line with a slight kink from a bend which was too tight. The loop was already partially drained to add the GPU, so this was a convenient time to fix it.
Old configuration.
New configuration. Much better for the tubing.
Card installed before splicing the tubing. I designed this loop to easily add a GPU.
Spliced the old line and added the GPU to the loop.
Filled and bled the loop. Went fairly quick since the whole thing wasn't drained.
Everything installed and working.
Doing a worst case CPU + GPU load test, max temperatures were 73 C (CPU) and 55 C (GPU).
