I was wondering if you guys could tell me if I fried my ASUS A7V133 motherboard also. I had a 1.2 Ghz t-bird that I fried after putting on my thermoengine heatsink ? I actually still don't know how I fried it, I guess I installed it improperly? Anyways, luckily I was able to get me 1.2 t-bird RMA'd by AMD, so in the meantime I decided to order a 750 Duron and planned to overclock it to 1 gig, while waiting for my t-bird to come in. Well I got my 750 duron today, unlocked the L1 and L7 bridges with a pencil, installed the thermoengine again, and it would not post at all. There were no beeps, but the fans were running and the harddrive was spinning. Nothing showed up on the monitor though. So I took off the thermoengine and erased the L1 bridges and the L7 bridges, plus I reset the CMOS. I turned on the computer again and the same thing. No beeps, fans running, harddrive spinning? What does this mean? Did I fry my motherboard along with my cpu last time? Is it possible to damage the motherboard by having a bad cpu in in for a couple of seconds? Am I gonna have to buy a new motherboard? Did I not clear the CMOS long enough? Is this 750 duron fried also? I doubt that though, it looks fine. The way I was able to tell that my 1.2 t-bird was fried was I saw brown residue around the die. I plan on getting the 750 duron tested at some computer shop since I don't have a friend that has a AMD compatible motherboard? What do you guys think. If you need any more info please tell me what you need. I thought it was just the cpu, but now it looks like it might be my motherboard also. This sucks. Thanks guys for your help and advice again.

im no expert on mobo's but i dont think its fried.meybe its trying to boot at the settings for your t bird.with fans running i doubt its the mobo.could you reach the bios and setup for the duron?check all connections?memory locked in for sure?

You probably just need to reset you cmos. With the power off and case unplugged from the wall short across the CLRTC solder points with a screwdriver tip or paperclip to clear it (also look in your manual under "Forgot your password").

Also check your pencil job the L1 bridges should close not cross set it to the default and fire it back up.

It is trying to boot you 750 at 1.2ghz it will never do it. So reset the bios or re lock the L1 bridges so it has to boot up at 750 mhz. that is if you are running at 100 fsb.

Thanks guys....I finally got it working again. I don't know exactly what did it though. I switched it from jumperfree mode to jumpermode and set it at 7.5 x 100. That didn't work. So I switched back to jumperfree mode again, plus reset the CMOS for longer this time, and reinstalled my thermoengine, powered it back on and it works now. Oh well, all that matters is that it works. Thanks for the help again guys.

Haven't had a chance to overclock it yet. I think I'm gonna burn it in for a couple of days.

maybe its just a poor OCing processor

u should be able to get it to about 825 easily,

some cases, i've noticed... its harder to clear out the cmos.
as a rule, i pull the btty for a few minutes, as seconds dont cut it
