Which is better and what is the difference? I kow that Hardware modems are the best, but i'm not sure I want to spend $30 on a dialup modem, but I might, but for now answer me those questions:D

Hardware means the controller is built in to the modem, it doesnt use the CPU to handle its instructions. So you made the better choice, they are more stable and give you better speeds generally.
