Just need to know what the differences are. Any performance differences in games? I know that with windows 2000 my scores are about 1500 lower then with xp, but I dont know what version I had that was giving me 1500 more points. So, if these two are the same performance wise, then I will just get the cheaper of the two.

theyre technically the same

but with upgrade, it just upgrades your original 2000 install to windows XP

but with the stand alone, you can do a "fresh" install

With the upgrade you need to have a Full copy of win 98,ME or 2k.
If you have a full copy of one of these get the upgrade.

You can do a fresh install with the upgrade as well. It will just ask you for a CD or other location of a valid product that qualifies for the upgrade. You can insert you win9x/2k cd and all is well.
