Well im gonna ask for one for x-mas i know very little about em but i found a kodak 3.1MP optical and digital zoom, 16 meg built on with an expansion slot , 1.8 LCD flash ect... its 300 bucks, just wanted to get some feedback, i just wanna be able to take good quality pics of parties, friends ect..nothing special. Any other suggestions for my 300 dollar cap?

Thanks guys

Kodak has ver questionable camera quality and you may want to search around for reviews done by those who have experience with regular SLR cameras.

Brands with better product quality: Minolta, Sony, and (some of the time) FujiFilm

3.1MP is a very nice resolution for a camera (MP = Megapixels, which equates to how many individual pixels the camera eye can capture)
You'll want to stay away from cameras that have digital zoom only. The manufacturer uses digital zoom to cut corners on cost (and it's almost worthless cuz it's simply cropping the image and filtering it)

I also recommend getting a Compact Flash card reader if your camera doesn't have firewire. Docking or syncing a camera can be a tempermental process with USB.

My pic (and what I have) is the Canon Digital Elph. Only 2MP but it takes gorgeous pictures that don't show loss until you go to 11x17.

Picture quality is the key and it ain't measured in megapixels.
