I thought I had blown my board the other day, its been sent off for exchange.
Anyway, I have heard that Abit boards need to have the CPU fan plugged into the motherboards CPU FAN header. If you dont use this header the board wont boot.
I tried a Celeron in my board when I thought I had blown it and used a fan which connected to one of the power supply connectors. This chip works ok but the board didnt boot. I just got a 4 second beep followed by no beep for a second then the 4 second long beep over and over. (the same error beeps as my P3 800E gave).
Can anyone try this for me. You just need to power down and take the lead off the fan header and power up for a second. If you get the beeps as described above then I dont think my board is screwed at all. Which is a f*** cause it means my CPU has died.
Thanx

Wouldn't it be easier to just plug in a fan?...$6.00 to $10.00 isn't a waste, and you can use the extra fan to cool your video card or something...I setup a bx 133 raid for a freind, but I never had any trouble with it..and after six months neither has he.

If I had the board in my posession I would plug a fan in but as I said in the post above, the board has been sent for exchange.
I had the chip tested today and that was ok. So I am back on the idea that the board is f***ed
