i think most people report socket temp for cpu from what i see here.i think, cuz it ain't always specified.i know we all use different
programs or even probes to ascertain those temps.problem for me is that when i read diode temps from mbm5 they are usually within a few degrees c from socket and on occasion i get something like 109c!! i know it can't be right but i'm afraid to just ignore it.i don't wanna kill my barton2500 cuz it is unlocked and i won't find another.anyone else get these wacky readings?
i know mbm5 is a good program and that alex dude put some effort into creating it and offers it for free so no insult to the program intended.hoot told me to trust the diode temps but the diode temps sometimes tell me to shut down at idle.
i'm kinda paralysed here wondering what temps i can trust and
what i should ignore when wacky.
2500 barton currently200x11x1.7vcore
a7n8x (non-deluxe)
2x512 3200ddr(generic crap,i didn't know my barton was unlocked
so i didn't know i might want to ever overclock)
antec true power 330 (worried about that)
sapphire 9800pro

I use a remote thermal senser on the side of my processor to gauge my temps. It reads 4° C less that the bios reading. Its a good guage to go by. THE FANMAN:cool:

I usually use ( and report) diode temps unless I'm depressed...then I use socket temp cause it's usually 5 deg or so lower.
My Asus BIOS temp is socket temp though, I believe.

thank you arch and clocker2.asus reports socket temp for me too.and i have the latest rev from their site.probe v2.22.02

ty too dohcrazy
so should i gnore those insane temps of 109c and in the previous week 113c?diode? like i said i'm paralyzed here not knowing what to trust.

anyway i was just suggestin that maybe we can all use the same yardstick, wether it be mbm5,speedfan or what ever program would cover all mobos if possible.too much to ask maybe?

doh! just realized there are way to many mobos for any program to keep up with.disregard that last post.i don't know how to remove it

ty rxc
saw that link before.using the w blah diode i get case 25,diode31,socket 37.
using the w83l785ts-s i get case25,diode48,socket 37
where are those crybaby emoticons when i need em?

My diode temps now read anywhere from 2C-8C below the socket temp. But that is because I'm using chilled water cooling. I trust the mbm5 diode temp readings, and never get strange temps like you are experiencing.
