are you sure that your build in sound card in your mobo supports 5.1? and if it does not all things are 5.1 I have a 5.1 setup and you wont be getting 5.1 on things like winamp so try a dvd

ok i know how to use 5.1 and i used to have a aureal vortes sq1500 and i could get 5.1out of that via my reciever..
the soundcard has the dd5.1 in it with the sub, front r and l, and back r, and l, and center, out puts
and it also has spdif-digital and optical in and out,
i was told that it will do 5.1 but i dont remember how he said to do it, it was all wacky, it wasnt normal....
