I am rounding cables and I have three different cables

1) 40wires all connectors black-- ATA-33 cables
2)80wires connectors blue, gray, and black all holes on connectors are open--ata-66
3)80wires connectors blue, gray, and black pin 10 is blocked---ata-100

Is this correct? Also can you remove the slave connector in the middle like you can do to the floppy cable?

Yes, ATA100 cables have pin 10 blocked on the connector. I'm not sure about removing the slave connector, though. I do have some old ATA33 cables without them though, so I don't think that it would hurt.

The blocked pin 10 is not indicating an ATA100 cable. This conductor is unused and is blocked to prevent installing the cable backwards. I have 40 conductor cables with the pin blocked. The 80 conductor cables are required for either ata66 or ata100 and there is no difference between the ata66 and ata100 cables.

kewl! so can I remove the slave connector in the middle of the cable?
