Does Evga 8800GT SC have any thermal protection for using a rpm ctrlr?

What happens if my 92mm vid card cooler aftermarket fan is turned OFF, by mistake? (that is possible)

I am not sure what the latest BIOS or software from Asus is capable of. Also I do not know what hardware or software or OS or combination takes care of overheating. My last mobo I was content to disable a lot of BIOS features or just not install their software. I am not planninf on using speedfan or the asus stuff. I was using mbm5 but its not for Vista HP 32.

However I am concerned about overheating with this build. I understand my E6750 cpu has a built in temp sensor, and my newest vid card, Evga 8800GT 512 also does. I am building these into t a new pooter as we speak. My last build I think I disabled a lot of stuff in the Asus P4C800E-D mobo BIOS P4 2.6C which may have been siomilar to but may not responsible for the overall safety of the cpu -is this function "optional" for a cpu i.e. defeatable via setting(s) & where? - but particularly I am concerned with my vid card for this ngQ.

I have had good cooling before, and other than a hardware( ie fan) failure I was never concerned about dangerously high temps. This time, for my first time, however I installed an aftermarket vid cooler a TR HR-03 GT. I unplugged the stock fan and I have a Artic-Cooling 92 fan for the HR-03 GT. The 92 fan gets power for a 3-pin to a Vantec knob, which gets all power form a 4-pin molex.

I have the A-C 92mm plugged into a Vantec fan & light controller, which goes down to zero volts (off), not 5 or 7V as some do. For the cpu I am using a fanmate, which goes down to 5V but not off. So what happens if I forget or somehow turn the vid card fan speed down to off? Is there any protection, like a total shut down or anything.

The evga 8800GT 512 SC is 650/1622/1900 I think so its got decent specs and I'm not sure if I need rivatuner or for that matter forceware - anyhting other than what is on the supplied disks, or the latest web version.

the videocard will clock back at around 100c(my core treshold on 8800GT) and this will usually get the card a bit cooler(though I doubt that it will happen on idle)

but I dont think it will become that hot with the HR-03 GT running passive
