this is on my Dads PC

MSI 990FXA-GD65V2
GIGABYTE Radeon R7 260X
AMD Phenom II X4 955

anyways , my question is this, he doesn't really do anything on his PC but play WoW ( World of Warcraft )
but his game is lagging and freezing and hangs , and when it stops doing that every thing goes in super
fast speed and catches up with itself , there are no programs in his PC , this just started with the lasted patch from Blizzard
cause there getting ready for the next expansion to be released ,also I did noticed that they did change the game system Req.

so Im think it could be the CPU cause the CPU is the oldest thing in the PC and that's the CPU I had back in the day and I was overclocking with it
what do you guys think?

You are barely above the minimum specs with that CPU. But it should be fine. Have you tried overclocking it to see if things get better? I believe that WoW plays better on an SSD due to world loads and such... Not sure on that though.

ya my Dad is against overclocking lol plus he pays for his electric , the wife also has a 955 here to and it shutters to just at stock so I will ask her if I can overclock it a tad just to check ,maybe to like 3.5 should be good. what you think?

The highest stable and check is my take... Get a good amount between stock and overclocked so you can see, if any, differences.

I agree with overclocking the 955, with a Coolermaster 212 I was able to get mine to 4.0 for a daily Oc. You should be able to get close to that.

wow been so long since I overclocked the 955 , and yes I got the nh-d14 on it

Open the case up and give everything a good cleaning...if his is like a lot of mine in the house, there are bound to be loads of dustbunnies, nice layer o' dust on all the fans (incl. cpu cooler), etc. Maybe also clean then apply some fresh tim.

Might do the trick and save a few $ (for a new toy or 2 for yourself, of course hehe)

oh, yes!!!! clock that little 955, they love it and beg for it.
I bought another a few weeks ago just because i missed clocking these little sweeties!!!!!
