I'm trying to find out what the correct order of installation should be on a W98ME and W2K machine should be. Am using a VH6-II and want to use the on board sound card.

So I install, then VIA 4in1, then VIA audio, then DirectX 8.0a, etc. Correct?

I think something is either missing or plain wrong in 98ME, when I boot, even the startup sound doesn't play correctly. Am I missing any important changes or drivers?

I have the same set up had trouble with loading the sound on a vh6 so I took it back got another MB and the drivers loaded rite in, got the new vh6-2 and everything went in sweet no problems, check to see if your drivers are rite for the onboard sound if your going to use another sound card delete the onboard sound drivers first. good luck. i'm also running Win Me I don't think it matters what order you load drivers in but maybe i'm wrong LOL
