dual channel ddr layout (7nnxp)

on a 7nnxp, which dimm slots do i want to use to enable dual channel DDR? do i do alternating so its like orange-orange (ie dimm1, dimm3), or do i use 2 right next to one another?

Your assumption is correct, slots 1&3 are orange.

To check dual channel status , use cpu-z and look at the memory tab, it displays the state of your ram.
