Dual Channel?

Is it possible to use dual channel with 256 ddr and 512 ddr
of the same branche Corsair XMS 3500 instead of 2 times 256?

they will have to be the same size...as far as im aware the only thing you can have different is the timings, but then im not sure on whether or not that is true or how it effects performance or stability
