There is one other possibility. I know some people have said that Via Aquas are junk, but I could run 3 of them in series for cheaper than the two Maxijets or the Eheim. That would be a lot of extra pressure, and I can't imagine all 3 of them failing at the same time.

So what do I choose?

People are intitled to there opinions but I am currently running a Via Aqua 1300 inline and have been for 8 months now with no trouble, i recently purchased a Maxi-jet 1200 because of the size and was not overly impressed with the flow compared to my Via, it has been sitting in a test loop for a week and I am reluctent to change to it as the via is still doing very well, I would definatly buy another via:)

Natz, where are you getting Maxi's from so that they are $3 more than Via's? I can get the Via's for $15 a piece off of ebay. If you can show me a good deal on the Maxi's I might get them instead.

And I am putting the heatercore after the pumps so the pumps won't add to the water temp.

3 pumps in a series? Bud, don't waste your money. Get 1 pump, and a program that can shut down your computer if the temps go too high. It's as easy as that. There is no reason, at all, to run 3 pumps in a series... even 2 pumps is pretty useless. You aren't getting any extra flow because it is in a series, so don't waste your money.

I am probably only going to get two to save some $$$. I know that I won't get more flow, but I will get more pressure.

Isn't flow and pressure tied together here?

why all those pumps when you can go with a danner! danner mag #3 pumps 350gph, and 10.5ft max head. thats only a few feet lower than the iwaki, and 2x the maxi and eheim! MUCH MUCH more pressure! Im running one right now, Very quiet. and from what others have said about them, they last a LONG time. People like Colin and diggrr have been using them for many many years in their computers.

The Danners do look good, but there is still the price issue. The one place I saw danners wanted $80 for the 350gph (I am sure it is cheaper at other places). It has twice ther pressure of Via, Maxi, and Eheim, so two Via's should be about the same pressure as a Danner, with same flow, for about $40 less.

I will see if I can find some cheaper places to buy Danner pumps, and if anyone knows of a good site please give me a link.

yes i use a danner mag 7. danners are great for pressure, head and gph. awesome pumps.

i wasnt aware that via's went for 15 on ebay. i was thinking of the 21$ on marine depot or something and i remembered seeing maxis for like 25 somewhere so then it was 4 more dollars but hey close enough.

I got mine for $35. search on the forums for them, theres a link somewhere. I dont have it right now.

well it depends on what kind of setup you're gonna use. Frankly I think that 1 pump will do the job.
Multiple pumps only add more noise and heat which just simply defeat the purpose of a WC.
So I'd go with one good reliable pump.

Oh I had seen those Danners before and considered getting them, I just didn't realize that they were danners at the time.

Big Al's has some awesome prices. Via Aqua 1300s for $15. Via Aqua 2600 (740gph) for $28 a piece!!!!

So a Danner 700gph (go ahead and scream overkill, I know someone will do it) is about the same price as dual Via 740gph pumps. Tempting it is. What do you guys think? How is the pressure on one Danner compared to the pressure of two Via's?

ok... now im not sure... but if you put em in series its not gonna speed up the flow, the second pump would only speed the water up if the first pump wasnt running at max capacity, because they are both turning at the same speeds right?

yep getting my second maxi by the end of next week and they each flow through their own radiator will get digital camera to post pics prolly done in 2 weeks to a month
