I want to use a pelt but require a cheap or free power supply. I have a spare 235W ATX psu. I thought about hooking up a + and - lines to it to achieve the voltage but the amps are limited by the negative line. So I thought if I could take the spare PSU open it up, I might some how be able to switch all the positives to negatives and vise versa. Then I could take a 12 or 5V line with a spare lead from the current psu in my system (300W) and combine it with a new high amperage negative line from the spare psu. I saw the site that shows how two link two psus to turn on at the same time. If it worked I'd have 17 or 24V line with 10 amps, the limit on my 300w 12V line. If any body can tell me for sure whether this would or wouldn't work let me know.

The part I'm least sure about is can I hook up a pelt like that, espeacially across two different psu's.

CAn I just use the PSU from a separate PC stacked next to my main PC as an extra power source?

I have a gutted box that only has the MoBo left on it. Or can I just take everything off the case except the PSU and just plug some peripherals to the second PSU?

You can use 2 psu in the same system, but I wouldent try crossing psus like that, it may work, but it seems riskey to me.
