Sorry, no pics. I dont have a digital camera :(

So, I made this duct out of some expandable metal ducting I had laying around in the basement. Hooked a 92mm on one side, and I now have it cranking right onto the proc. However, my CPU temps only went down a few degrees. They were 55C under full load; they are now 51C in the day and 49C at night. Do I have an underpowered HS? Its a Volcano 5, on a TBird 1.3.

I will try to get a way to get pics up soon...

Whatever I get (looking like the AX-7: hella low c/w), I will most likey not be running a fan on it. With this 92mm duct cranking on it, my temps are the same in my current rig with or without the fan from the HS installed.

When you say "in my rig" are you talking about the temp in the case it self or the temp of the CPU? Just clarifing.

If I'm not right, you said you don't want a fan on the heatsink? That's impossible for the your chip. And the AX7 is an excellent choice :)

No, I think I can do it... I was doing it earlier. Its ducted, with the 92 blowing on it. I tried it with and without the fan on my current HS: both temps were identical after a few hours at full load.

I can certainly try, anyways. :D

As long as you have air flowing over your HS you are go to go. Usually from the articles I have seen, performance will usually go down if the HS fan and the duct fan are both on and in a close proximity to each other. Nice job! :)
