i WAS supposed to put the arctic silver 2 between my coldplate AND the entire base of my heatsink right?
minor brain fade here. lol

Well let me get things straight, u have your CPU, then coldplate, then heatsink right? Ok, well if this is the case, then you want AS II on the core of the CPU, and completely covering the coldplate on the side thats touching the heatsink if I'm not mistaken.

why are you using a coldplate if you don't have a pelt, there is no need for one otherwise, but assuming for some unknown reason you do, then you only need AS2 between the core and the coldplate, but the coldplate and the heatsink should be completely covered with AS2.

well i cant see any way to mount my hsf without the cold plate cause i have a slot-a athlon and the chip itself is mounted to a mini mobo type thing an there are no holes or slots in it to clip the hsf to.
any ideas?
looks like i better dissasemble and apply AC2 to the hsf and coldplate, no wonder my temps are kinda high lol.

hey thanx guys!
i covered my coldplate where it meets the heatsink completely with arctic silver 2 and my temps dropped a whopping 6c !!!!! i also just got my new y adapter in for my new hs dual fan so the 2nd fan is now working and that dropped my temps 2 or 3c !!! i am one happy camper.
thanx again all.
ill be starting my airconditioning duct project early this week.
