With the rig in sig file, whenever I plug any flash drive, or external drive (old Seagate HD, or brand new San Disk SSD) into the front USB 3.0 headers or the back USB ports I get a duplicate of that drive. I've never seen this before, and using any of the drives tested this doesn't happen in Win10, nor my more recent 2024 laptop with Win11 either, nor an older Win 11 laptop.

It's always been the case with this rig when I received it early last year. When you open either of the duplicate drives you see the same data in the folders etc.

Here's a screenshot below. I keep forgetting to post this, but here we are.

I've searched around and haven't found any clues etc on this. Im stumped!

Ideas, anyone have this issue?

I thought that's how File Explorer displays external storage. It's part of This PC, but b/c it's external it shows as it's own device/twice.

Thanks for this link! I’ll read today.

This is the first machine to do it for me. As I mentioned my new Win11 laptop doesn’t do this. And both units are up to date.

Dunno...here's my W11 24H2. Guess which are the external drives. :)

Thanks! Now I’m going to crack open the laptop later. It clutters up the tree.

Well shoot, I put in 2 different flash drives, on the new laptop and it does it now too, ugh very odd. Oh well. Ill read that link now.
