I recently killed my mobo trying to cool a k6-2 down, lol. So I want to buy a Duron and a Duron Mobo with overclocking in mind. The only problem is I have very very limited resources (no money)! I have looked at the ECS K7VZA and think it's a pretty good buy. It's product description website is here.
Thanks for your help! ~

I just had a question.
Is the KT7E worst than the KT7A? I was looking at the abit website and it seems so. It just so happens that newegg.com is having a sale on this mobo refurb for only $88, that includes fedex!!!!

KT7E costs $85 + Shiping!
I'm very happy about this and hope it lasts!

Welcome to the forums overdoing_it!
I really cant recommend the K7VZA board especially if you want to overclock. The Iwill KK266 is an excellent board at a decent price. Newegg.com has them for $107 or $89 shipped for a refurbished one (might be out of stock). If money is really an issue then you could go with an ECS K7VZA since it has a better chipset for FSB overclocking. I don't think the ECS has many FSB selections in the bios so overclocking is limited. The Iwill is also more stable than the ECS so the Iwill wins in everything accept for price.

The ABIT KT7-E is a great board, I have NO problems with it at all. And on pricewatch has a good pries.

Great bios for clocking.

I have not heard of any of the problems that the KT7A has.

And you can get a Duron 600 for $28 + S&H.

And remember a REALY good HSF, the SK6 is good, I have one on my T-bird sys now.

Good Luck on your hunting.

Lionfish speaks much truth here ! The board he eludes to is essentially a KT7A minus the RAID essentially.

Maestro

Get an Epox 8KTA2. That is the board I own and it was only $169 Canadian! KT133 + 686B chipset's and it has a jumper to run 133Mhz FSB with AGP on 66Mhz and PCI on 33Mhz!

Jumpers are old world hehe, :)

The KT7E settings are all done in the bios.

And it will run @ 133, some have even had it @ 147.

Good Luck.

Well thanks! I really appreciate your recommendations, expecially on the 650 Duron!
I was going to spend extra for the 850! Well, I do have overclocking in mind, and I'm also saving for a watercooling system by next year :). That will be very helpful. Thanx!
