DVD disappearing in Win 10

Has anyone had the DVD disappear from file explorer and Computer Management?

Yes I have...when there's no disk in it, it isn't there.

My problem is when there is a disk in and still can't see the drive.

Dumb simple question, but have you checked your Sata Cable connection?

Had this happen to me a couple months ago and it was because one of my cables came loose. Drive still worked because the power was plugged in fine, but no data was transferring.

I have issues with Windows 10 and DVDs sometimes...I'll put a disc in the drive, it will spin up...and then nothing.

I have to open the DVD drive up, close it, and let it spin up again.

Yes I checked, the BIOS even sees the DVD drive. It does work for a short time right after OS install but then does not show up after that.

I have done that and still no go.

For now untill I find a fix, I setup a DVD on my XP game PC as shared on the network and mapped it to the Win 10 PC.
