DVD playback artifacts

I've had my Lite-on 411s since the last black friday sale and it's worked great. Lately though, I've noticed that the DVD's that I'm burning are having a lot of artifacting going on towards the end of the movie and sometimes it's even enough for the player to give up and quit. I'm playing them on a Sony set-top, fairly new and progressive scan, so it's nice, and I'm using TDK 4x DVD+R discs.

I've only noticed this lately, so I was wondering if I perhaps got a bad batch of DVD media or if it is my burner or player by chance.
