looking to get a DVD-rw to replace my existing one since every time i load up the nvida ide drivers the PC stops loading windows.

I'm loading the drivers since they are needed for NVraid unfortunatly. So ATM its either RAID, or no DVD-rw. :bang head Any advice on a drive that works fine with the NV driver would be helpfull. TIA

I have 2x DVD-RW drives, a Lite-On SOHW-1693S & a Lite-On LDW-811S. Both are running on the Primary IDE channel with the NV IDE driver installed. They seem to work fine.

Thanks, I'm glad there are some LOL. my I/Omagic drive just dont cut it.

Like to hear of any others, since i'd hate to buy 1 and have the same crap happen. BTW bchur83 did it just work outta box, or was there any toying needed to get them running??

Well, to start with, I didnt install the NV driver. Then I was having trouble with a couple of IDE Hard Drives, and decided to install the NV driver. The drives worked fine with and without the NV driver installed. No tricks needed.

thanks again bchur83, but to anyone else. Are those the only two?? I d realy like another option. Not that theres anything wrong with lite-on drives.

Most reviews show the NEC and BenQ drives are the best. I currently have the BenQ DW1640 and it runs great, most reviews show it as one of the fastest burning drivers with great quality.

Are ya running the IDE SW driver??

Uhm, not too sure about that. My nForce3 150 mobo is running that DVD burner on IDE, forget if it was either on master or slave.

I have an LG DVD-RW running no probs with the NV drivers installed, can't remeber the model off hand but its an 8x.

See thats kinda what i need to know, cus as soon as i load that driver (which is needed to use the nvraid) the system wont load windows till i unplug the DVD-RW that is in there. if i go raidless, then i dont install the driver. And all is fine.

If ya could get that model # id be realy happy. Like to do some serious price checking during this holiday season as $$ is realy tight.

GSA-4081B would be the model number of my drive, I think its over a year old now. LG is definately a good choice if you're on a tight budget, I've seen the 16x dual layer drives for sale at $45 CND (~$38 USD).
