dying hard drive?

I have an IBM 30 gig ATA 100 hd that is very slow, with read speeds of about 3000 kb/s according to Sandra. It will pass Scandisk and IBM drive function test without errors. It is currently sitting in a
GA-7VAXP
XP 2100 plus @ stock with an AX-7 and Smartfan II
256 mb Corsair PC 2100
GeForce 2 MX
On board Sound
Sony 24X CDRW
Gereric NIC
Also it is the only device on the primary IDE and set to master.

If your read speed and transfer rates are that low there must be something wrong with it. Any noises when its seeking? Probably RMA time, how long have you had it for?

First thing to do is to change your cable.
BTW, did this just start, or did you discover it through Sandra?

you should start by checking your bios and make sure you hard drive is set to the right mode (more infomation on the problem would help too)
