dying moniter?

well my friends moniter has been really screwy latley. dosent know what kind of moniter it is but its quite old. whats happening to it is that for no reason it will go black so he has to turn it off and turn it back on to fix it. its been occuring more reciently then the first time it happened. is it dying or is there a way to fix it?

At the price of monitors lately, they're usually not worth fixing. It does sound like the monitor has some components that are heat sensitive, and are failing. You can probably take it somewhere and have it fixed, but is it really worth it?
