dynamic disks in win2k/XP

whats the deal with dynamic disks in win2k/XP
with regard to performance,cluster size etc...
whats it good for and bad for??

It allows you to extend a partition without losing data, mirror partitions or Raid 5 in server versions and can also allow spanning volumes across multiple drives. More info here:

The downside is that if it's an upgraded version it cannot be downgraded back to the old OS without reinstall.
