hello everyone,
any of you with this mobo use the built in audio?
Currently on winxp pro and using the built in audio, problem is, volume output is very low even with the system volume all the way up.
I installed the drivers on the cd which came with the mobo.
And the speaker plug is all the way in.

anyone encounter probs like this with the built in audio for ecsk7s5a?

any help/advice/info would be greatly appreciated....

Ya, mine wasn't all that great either, i thought it was very weak sound. I went and bought a Fortissimo 2 and noticed a big difference. But what do you expect, it is a budget board.

Mine is also very low.

Have read in some posts that the sound output is not amplified and powered speakers are necessary.

Are you running on power speakers or headphone?

Mine works great using powered speakers.

Latest BIOS includes a new audio codec, and there is a new audio driver available. Don't use the one off the CD.

My onboard audio works fine w/ my Altec Lansing speakers.
Makes my floor shake when I watch Jurassic Park.

yes, but it was so long ago i don't remember how I fixed it.

However the reason I'm posting is to say that after a couple months my onboard sound(on my secondary system;main has SB card) quit working when I'd try to play various games. Updating/changing to different audio drivers didn't fix it, nor did a OS reinstall.

We(my Dad using my secondary system) ended up getting a SB LIVE 5.1(OEM) from newegg for $36 shipped. No more sound issues

personally i dont use ecs but we use this mobo as a econo line for our company and we have never had any problems with sound and we have tested with headphones and microphones and they seem to work for us and our customers have not complained as of yet

My board uses the ALC100P sound chip and is very low with headphones. What's your sound chip?

I use headphones too and the sound is very quiet. it's because the output isn't powered. Works fine if you have speakers with a built in amp, but if you want loud heaphones (I sure do!) you've got to get a separate sound card. My SB Live! should be ariving Friday :)
