I just got an epox 8k7a mobo, and did a clean install of win2k. But for some reason it doesnt see my sblive card at all. i tried moving the card to another slot, still no good. I also disabled the onboard sound chip in bios before installing win2k.In device manager i see audio codecs and some legacy codecs, etc, but no sblive... Am i missing something stupid here?

I hope this isn't your problem, but recently when I upgraded from my Asus P3V4x to a Asus CUSL2, somewhere in the transfer my Sb Live got zapped. Just here at my bench, properly grounded, it decided to go belly up. I had the same problem, where I simply pulled the card, put it down for 20 mins, and put it in the new system - wouldn't see jack. I snagged the Live out of my other system and it came right up. Put the other one back in, and it couldn't be seen to save it's life. :(

Do you have another system to try the card in?

I was afraid that was what might have happened. Ill have to try it in another system, dont have one here but ill find out soon enough

Make sure you Disable the Onboard sound in BOTH places there is an option for it in the BIOS.

Follow up: Sblive works fine now that i went with a 450 watt enermax. I was previously using a noname 250 watt ps.

Interesting that it wotks with proper PSU!

Just proof yet again that is always a good investment to get a proper and big PSU. Doesn't help getting the other goodstuff if you dont get a good PSU.
