just installed this controller card in my system...set the jumpers for my 2 10gb hdd for both master...connected them to the card...turned on myt comp..and got the bios message after my mobo's bios...but the message it gave me said 'BIOS is NOT installed'...i cant find any information from epox..or from the place i bought the card from..can somebody PLEASE help me..i know the drives work..i know the cables work...i can even get into the raid bios setup..but none of my options will save...any ideas on how i can flash the bios of the card..or if i need to?

This is probably useless but use a DOS boot disk to get into DOS and flash BIOS.

Just a thought, if it operates like a SCSI adapter, then that message simply means that the card is not configured to boot the OS. If you want to boot off the card, then you will need to set it up in the card's BIOS as well as the mobos BIOS. If it's to be a storage array, go into the card BIOS and set the modes and stripe sizes and configure the array. Are the drives detected by the card?

cant find any program to flash the bios with...epox's site was a bust..

using it with a gigabyte ga-bx7 mobo with an intel 440bx chipset..not the amd760 (i know this card doesnt work wit hthat chipset)

havent tried booting from SCSI yet..gonna try and do that now...

it detects 2 drives when they are connected...

1 on each of the card's ide channels..and both as master, however i cant delete ther partitions..when i choose that option the configure utility freezes...and again..i cant SAVE any of the options..for example there is setting for best or safe performance..if all i do is change that one option from safe to best and exit out..itll save...or says it does...then i reboot go back into the utility and its back at safe performance... =(

tried setting the mobo's bios to boot from SCSI...absolutely no difference.

i canboot directly from the one HD with winxp installed on it..but when i attach both cables to the raid card, i get a disk boot failure

i just want to be able to set up a raid 0 array with my 2 drives and start fresh but this card is ****ing me off...

this is soooo frustrating...does anybody have or know anyone that has this card? i want to figure this out...

~jeff~

Since XP was installed on the HDD, you may need to FDISK and delete partitions from an IDE controller. Next, clear the MBR by FDISK /MBR. Once that's done the drives may be able to be configured by the controller. I'm not sure why the controller will not save changes, unless the data on the drive is interfering or there's another configuration problem.

hmm..i dont think that would fix it...because as you said, there is still the problem of the card's bios not saving any changes made to it..and it still does not explain why the computer freezes when i try to delete a partition through the card's bios...and it does not explain the message 'BIOS is NOT Installed" i get during the time when the card checks for HDDs attached to it...im also gonna hold off on doing that until i get some more input, seeing as how it would take me quite a while to try that, then if it doesnt nwork install windows xp all over again just so i can get online to read help...but if no one else answers i just may have to do that...epox's website sucks for information...
