Hello everyone i just tried flashing my bios but how do i know if it was succesful i extracted the new bios files to a Windows Me startup disk booted to it typed in update in DOS prompt and everything seemed like it worked went through it's procedure exept for backing up the old bios it said floppy disk is full eeek.. maybe i was suppose to extract it to a 98or 95 boot disk instead. After i emediately went back in the bios saved the setup defaults saved to cmos and restarted and everything seems the same as before. i thought the new bios takes out that stupid phoenix symbol at bootup and FSB goes higher mine is still at 166 max. Could someone please help me. this is making me nervous .

You will need to make sure to delete files from the boot disk to make more room.
Delete all the cdrom drivers and the ramdive stuff then edit the autoexe.bat file and config.sys file so the are empty.
The bios version will be at the bottom of the screen on the left at boot. Press pause it should say 0711 or like that if you have programmed the bios succesfully.

***Never use your startup disk to copy the files to.

1. Extract the self extracting files from the EPoX website onto a BLANK floppy.
2. Boot from any boot disk which has the DOS kernel on it.
3. Insert the disk with the BIOS files on and type "update" and press return.

And what do you do if you have no boot disks and run win me?

You get on the net and download an old DOS distrib. MS weren't being nasty or anything by doing this - it shows their commitment to a full GUI. Those purists who need full CLI will always find a way of obtaining a fully fledged DOS.

Thank you everyone i came back to tell you that i figured it out what i did was extract it to a different blank floppy booted up with a 98 cd rom went to dos prompt and typed in update and it all worked now Woooo Hoooo im happy now it took out that stupid pheonix pop up and now my FSB goes to 250 whoppers WOW that is awsome. Thank you everyone :) This Board rocks
