Iv been thinking about getting this board, but with the recent talk about problems im starting to wonder. I have a 350w enermax PSU, would this be a problem. Any advice, should i wait a little while to see if they get things straightened out, or is it really not that bad. Iv read the stuff at amdworld, just wondering what you people think.

I use the 365 model 350w enermax.
My +5v shows 4.91v full loard and 4.93v
idle with a 1.4ghz 266 cpu.
I have not tried overclocking yet as I am still burning it in.
No crashes or lockups yet, been running prime 95 for 24hrs now. 3dmark 2000 and 2001 run fine.
My cpu temp is 48c under load.

Sorry about adding to the clutter, but i have had bad luck posting a question in an old thread, seems to get ignored that way.

Yeah, I JUST read that article and the message board at AMDMB and I'm a bit worried now too as I already bought the PSU, case and fans. Proc, mobo and Ram is this Friday.

Enermax 430w PSU, 1.4/266 on a 8K7A+ with a GeForce3, 512MB PC2100 Micron.

I wonder if it is only with this configuration of mobo/psu or if it is only the PSU? I also had my eye on the Gigabyte GA-7DXR(AMD uses it in their reference system apparently), by the time I burn in the proc and start overclocking, it will be long past the deadline for returning it.

Anyone else can shed some light? Just to make this n00b(me) feel a little more at ease as he steps into the world of overclocking? -_-

Oops, crappy PC at work locked and it looks like I posted same message twice. My apologies -.-

This is my 5V rail voltages with the Enermax EG465-VE the 431 watt monster with the 44 amps of current on the 5 vlead, as well as 2.2 amps on the 5vsb lead..) This power supply actually had excess power on the 5vrail before I started increasing the core voltage, and the fsb, etc.. it was at 5.12v to begin with, now after getting my 1.2 ghz up to 1.475ghz w/ 155fsb and 2.05Vcore My 5v rail is at 4.93 to 4.96 So if your using the lower powered enermax I could probably say yes you are gonna run into problems increasing the Vcore as this drops your 5Vrail pretty good with moderate power supplys probbaly get it below 4.8v for sure.. All you can do is try it.. If it dont work get a Enermax 465 431 watt they have them at pc.nut.com for 90.00 not bad for a monster of a power supply..
Hope this helps

The 8K7A is an awesome board so don't let the hype distract you from getting it. These issues are very fixable if they do occur and chances are that they probably wont happen to you at all. I almost bought an enermax PS but I did not find it listed on AMD as an approved power supply so I went with the Antec instead. As you can see from previous posts there are people using enermax supplies and not having any problems. And just because its not on the list it does not mean its bad since AMD does state there probably are others not listed yet and its geared on stuff like combined 5 volt and 3.3 volt ratings as well as total wattage yadda yadda yadda :)

Go for it you'll be glad you did

I'm looking into getting the 8K7A for my next box. I read the reviews of what the problems were, and I said to my self, "Self, it looks like all these problems are related to the power supply. So if I just get an Antec powersupply with my Antec case (yeah, like that would happen!), I should be fine! I'll make sure it's one of the 400W PS, just for overkill." So me, I ain't worried about it.

I believe that Enermax are addressing their problems as we speak. They realize that EPoX have made a board that requires the 5 volts rail to be stable - which their PSU's are apparently incapable of.

Big up EPoX for making such a cute board, and come on Enermax - we know you can do it.
