Welcome to the Forum!

That could be a long answer with a lot of opinions. However the majority of the people here feel 98/ME are better for gaming, but not as stable as 2k. Some games won't run on 2k. It's all a matter of opinion and needs, but I'd recommend 2k if you have a fairly fast machine.

8K7A - I've got 3 of those!!!! Very nice board - especially with Nanya DDR running 170Mhz FSB!!!!!

Without a doubt - windows 98SE. More stable than ME, faster than 95 or 98v1. As Shadow states - there are many known problems with 2k and games.

I use 2k, but I don't do games very often. Good look with the board, you have chosen a fine manufacturer.

Check my specs below, and windows 2000 runs fine (actually, I couldn't use dual processors without windows 2000).

In the past, I had a dual boot windows 98/2000 system, 2000 because I could, but windows 98 for games. I only have one game that won't play on windows 2000, and it's an older version of need for speed... so no big loss since I need to get a new one anyway...

I will say that my 3dmark (benchmarking for video performance) scores were 15% higher in windows 98, unsure why, they just were. Rarely experience windows-related crashes with windows 2000, a real plus (Shadow mentioned stability, the real bonus with windows 2000).

I'd say create a dual partition drive, install 98 (45 minutes), then install 2000 (maybe an hour after getting all the patches/updates from microsoft's site), and play with both of them to find out what works best for you.
