Hi lads, long time not logged on...

Finally got some time (and money, lol!) to build a decent rig.

I got this morning a 5820k, with an Asrock Extreme6, 16 gigs of TridentZ 3600/CL17 and a H240X.

Did not have time yet to test the CPU, but will this week-end.

I am about to pull the trigger on an EVGA 980 ti, but don't know which one...

I know Pascal is around the corner, but it's no big deal with the step up program.

I hesitate between the hybrid, the Classy and the Hydro Copper, as there is no KingPin edition available in Eire.

Which one is supposed to overclock the best (classy I believe°?

Thanks for your input!

The classy should theoretically overclock the best, but it will all be based on luck of the draw.

If you are on air or water, it really doesn't matter which one, honestly. They will all overclock to around 1500Mhz (give or take 25Mhz). Much above that you hit the lottery, below that, you lost it.

I have the 980 Ti hybrid.

Overclocks well.

It's nice having the radiator so I can control where the heat is in my case.

The Classified is cheap enough for the quality of the GPU and PCB. The 980ti Classy doesn't have nearly the upcharge that the 980 or 780ti Classifieds had.

BE CAREFUL with the idea that you can step up to a new Pascal if you buy a GTX980TI. I would confirm that with EVGA and get an e-mail confirmation.

Indeed, I dont think Evga offers the step up program on their best cards, only the more mid level cards.

They offer it on their best cards.... I believe the concern here is that it is a generational gap and it may not be offered initially.

I don't remember it being available early enough for earlier gens.....but, I wasn't watching all that closely either. Wouldn't hurt to contact support. They'll give you a straight answer for sure.

The Zotac GeForce® GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme is probably one of the best and fastest 980ti's you can buy.
The only downside to it that i see is that it is a pretty beefy card.
