I was planning this upgrade in 2011 when I built a new computer but reused an older, carpier video card which I'll go into later. To the unboxing of it (finally! I ordered this thing on the 23rd of May, didn't get it until the 13th of June)

So there is the card and the carp that came with it. ^_^
In 2011 I built a new computer and relegated my old gamer to HTPC duty...
The old one had an Intel Q9400 quadcore, 8800GTX (previously in SLI on an MSI board that carped out on me), replaced with that Asus P5P43TD, Asus Xonar DX, 8GB G.Skill DDR2, Tt Toughpower 850W modular PSU in an Antec P180.

The 2011 build was a typical mid-tower cooler master case with a 600W cooler master PSU...that PSU was fine for powering my overclocked i7-2600K and the AMD HD6850 video card but with only 36A on the 12V rails, not enough for the GTX780, which requires 42A...the tough power from 2006 has 60A for video cards and another 36A on the remaining +12V rails. I knew a swap was in order but because undoing all my cable management from the new(er) build and changing PSU's is only a little less work than swapping to the larger and better flowing Antec P180...so instead of a PSU swap, its a motherboard (+CPU/RAM), storage and video card swap...with the PSU's staying in each case.
TLDR: I swapped cases. PICS!:

Video card upgrade path since ditching SLI 8800GTX in 2008 (Greatness, mediocre carp (don't ask), back to teh greatness):

Storage: Top is gaming system, bottom is HTPC:

Drive swap complete. Ziptidied up but still allows the hard drive shelf to be fully removed while running.

Finished rebuilding the gaming computer:

The EVGA sticker is pretty swanky on the P180 so I stuck it on, Ain't she purdy?

This thing runs minecraft soo fast...mmmm butter. :attn: Not the newest stuff out there but I figure somebody will appreciate this build.
SPECS:
Intel i7 2600K (OC @ 4.1GHz)
Evga GTX780 SC ACX (2784KR) (OC more with sliders)
G.Skill DDR3 8GB 2133MHz with dual fan cooler (OC @ 2196MHz)
Tt Toughpower 850W (2006 version)
Intel 120GB SSD Windows 7 drive
Corsair 60GB SSD Cache drive paired to 2TB WD EARS (green drive)
WD 3TB EFRX (red NAS drive)

I haven't benchmarked it yet, will probably be pretty good. Runs Arma3 Alpha really, really well...I'm standing littlebird skids on the sides of cliffs and **** whereas with the 6850 taking a shot with a sniper rifle was next to impossible...seemed like 5-10 FPS and needless to say it was not enjoyable.:salute:
