Expected FPS?

One important detail you omitted is the monitor(s). What resolution are you gaming at?

And there's really not a "sure fire" answer to your question. The only way to find out what FPS you'd get from the game is to run the game and test.

I have tested the games and gotten fps readings as i mentioned earlier. What im wondering is if these are acceptable, i bleieve there may be a problem with my GPU. After performing the benchmark reccomended to me my 7970 with 3 GB is only showing 1GB compared with alll the others systems that show a full 3GB

Would you please post some screen captures of where your GPU is only showing 1GB as opposed to 3GB?

You could run GPUz that will give you all the specs on your card.

And also; some screen captures of the actual benchmark results where it says you're only using 1GB.

Haha the funniest thing happened....i found the benchmarking software needed an update. Now it shows 3GB, so thats not an issue any more.

GPUz is also showing 3GB.

I'm running a Vizio 37 inch tv at 1920x1080 (60 Hz refresh rate) as my monitor.

I am assuming your games are all running on the highest video settings they can push. My friend just upgraded to an I7-2600K running 2 Zotac 480Amps in sli and he gets about the same fps when playing BF3. I would assume that your FPS are great as long as they stay above 60FPS when playing on the highest video settings. Also if you feel your reaching a cap on fps try turning vsync off if this is available on amd cards. I have only used 1 amd card in my life and returned it so I have little to no experience with them.

VSync is the next thing to do as esCob4r has mentioned. You can turn it of via Catalyst Control Center.

Vsync would have to be off for him to be getting 70ish frames in "X" like he mentioned. I fit were on the most FPS he'd get in anything would be 60.

I've never played minecraft but the Just Cause FPS sounds about right if its totally maxed out.

With the setup listed below what kind of FPS should i expect (no OC) in games? (Just Cause 2, Minecraft, Skyrim, ect...). I think my system may not be performing up to its expectations. So far in minecraft im averaging 60-70 fps and in just cause 2 its 70-75. Is this reasonable, or does this seem low?
Thanks in advance

Big question is:

What drivers are you using currently?

12.2 apparently are night and day better when dealing with OpenGL based rendering (Minecraft is OpenGL based I believe, but Just Cause 2 uses the Avalanche 2.0 engine which looks like its Directx Based).

I just ran some in depth tests about 2 months ago with a clients machine and it was using the 11.12 beta driver thing that AMD released for the 7970s initially.

Client's Rig specs:

i7 980x @ 4.2ghz
sapphire 7970 stock clocks
12 gb g-skill ram @ 1600 mhz
