sorry bout the lack of the box on the first post, my router crashed, so i had to reset it and eat supper too

my dad told me that that braided nylon tubing was best, and not wanting to anger him, i "believed" him, and bought the type he said, and now it is such a pain just to disassemble, i don't want to do new tubing on the whole thing

yea, i feel ya about the parents thing, i hate when they do that.

Is that a mag 2 or 3?

Again, if you could get rid of all the 90's it would help alot, one maybe two is okay, but i count 4.

Otherwise, i love the wood box, makes it look very nice.

all the info is in the above post repilce

that box is 3/4ths inch fiberboard that an elementary school where i did custodial work this summer threw it away, like more than ten dollars worth of wood for nothing, so i took it and made a box

it is a mag drive 3

DOHcrazy: even with the elbows the whole system will drain in like 10 seconds by using the pump, so it isn't tooo bad

With regard to the 90 degree elbows, I should interject here. I have a MAG 3 pump, A MCW5002 and MCW50 block in series with a Chevette HC and a Res. I have SIX elbows and I still have great flow and low temps "fully loaded".

Sorry guys, I don't buy into the 1/2" 90 degree elbows being terrible for flow. I'm sure it does impact it, but at what cost? Perhaps one or 2 degrees C? Is it worth putting stress on your equipment to bend a stubborn tube vs putting a 90 in? I'd rather have 90's than ripped PC boards or sudden leaks.

How 'bout some data. I have none to offer other than my emperical results using six 1/2" elbows.

Just my 90 cents.

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do ;)
The elbows don't help any but if the choice is between annoying Dad or 1 or 2c on the cpu temp- go with the elbows! :)

You can always try clearflex or tygon at some point in the future, and reality is that a few degrees of heat will not make much difference unless you are pushing to the absolute limits of stability.

It looks good man, nice job!
The only other comment I have is that you can probably improve the efficiency of the rad by mounting it to the fans with shrouds and allowing air to passively vent from the box, but again, the difference is probably not major.

when i had this setup without elbows, it pulled the processor out of its socket which scared me terribly!

with these two fans running quietly, they can hold a piece of paper up against the radiator with the suction they put out, and at about 100*farenheit, i think that is good enough compared to the 129* before water cooling

add some more fans and your temps should lower a bit more.

Nice box though! Nice and roomy. And killer res, man!

thats gotta be the biggest t-line i've ever seen!

I love it when back yard carpentry, plumbing, and electronics come together.

If the lid is air tight then the position of the fans shouldn't matter.

Nice work Roboman101
