One of those weekends, splitting headache, and cleaning up all my accounts and passwords and stuff, and then OH CRAP ya! OC! haven't been on in ages!
Oh man, headaches suck! Heck yeah! I miss the days of forums being popular. Everything has moved to Facebook and stuff like reddit. I hadn't been on oc for like 6 years until @KeeperOfTheButch and I resurrected the folding_monkeys a few months ago. Just glad ocforums is still around!

@the garynator , nice f@h on Ubuntu tutorial man. (y) I just wanna say that folding on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS(MATE desktop) works with no issues. I use
Code:
sudo snap install folding-at-home-fcole90
to install the client and required dependencies, the 535 nvidia drivers installed automatically during the initial OS install. I dumped the CPU slot as it was heating up the system more than I like.

I did not see 24.04LTS MATE on DistroWatch.com, I did see Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat), so I did download it. :)

Question on Nomachine, when you remote to a PC and then log out of that PC, is F@H still running? I ask because the way I know how remote desktop and remote assist work, remote desktop logs the local user out and logs the remote user in, remote assist or Quick assist where the local user is not logged out.

I'm not sure, I only login to the ubuntu machines with the one user account I set up when I installed ubuntu.

Question: Why make a bootable USB drive for Linux or any other OS, what's wrong with DVD's? And if the .iso is too big for a 4.7GB DVD then just get a DL 8.5GB DVD to burn to like what I'm doing right now for 24.04 LTS :). Just make sure your DVD drive can read and wright to a DL disk.

Im sure you can, but the first reason that jumps into my head, is speed. Optical drives are slow.

Also, everyone has USB ports... everyone does not an optical drive in 2024 (I haven't had one in probably a decade).
