Fan in my Moniter ???

Hey guys i have a 17" Futura moniter and this thing gets hot!. I want to put a 80mm blower on the top to suck out the hot air in this thing. Now the only problem is .....i dont think these things have a power supply,... well if they do i dont know where it is ... i know moniters have to have some xtra power some where now i just need to find it..Have any of you ever tried this or know if it can be done.?

I got a ps 12v 1.5amp at the shack. I think it was about $15.00 it comes with a changeable tip you get to pick the tip you need there is one thats just a pig tail. I just wired a fan conector on it and off you go.

I like the idea of a fan in the monitor, maybe they will start coming that way. Monitors are touchy things with lots of power in them. I would not recomend trying to tap the internal power. An external supply is probably best. Be very careful where you put it. An electric motor near some parts will cause distortion and noise on your screen.

I'm planning to finish my article on installing a fan on the monitor tomorrow... I was planning that for a long time, but the school took away a lot of my time.

hey! a monitor fan is a great idea! i had never thought of it :) my monitor gets really hot cause it runs all day so i'll just put a nice 120mm fan on it sucking air out, thanks for the idea man!

Thanx guys for all the idea's and such..Looks like the external power source seems to be the easist way to go. I still like the idea of haveing it all in one neat pakage and being able to just turn on the moniter and the fan come on with it....
